The Gift

My husband and I are coming off of our wedding anniversary. It was lovely. We went out, we were pampered, we had a wonderful meal, he gave me jewelry, we laughed, we chatted, we drank, and we got in our jams by 10pm. It was everything that one could hope for and love about a really great anniversary after a couple of decades.

The following day, I was puttering around the house trying to figure out what I was going to do with my day. There are always plenty of chores to do, but some of my standards like laundry were already covered. I felt a little blah about the day and then the man of my dreams of 17 years leaned over and whispered five sweet words into in my ear, “You could mow the lawn.”

Now, before you dismiss it follow me on this one. We live on 6 acres, which is indeeed a lot of lawn. That also means we have a large zero turn mower. Now if you have never been on a zero turn, it is like a go cart with mowing blades. My husband had offered me 3 hours of kid free outdoor off road go carting with mower blades. Holy Schmoly!!!

He bought a new zero turn last year too. Turns out he had been holding out on me. It has this squishy hydraulic seat. So it was comfortable 3 hours of kid free outdoor off road go carting with mower blades! The bonus to it all, when I was done with my fun it looked like I had accomplished something.

I had dirt in every crease and crevice. I have the goofiest of farmer’s tans. I was hot and exhausted when it was done. It was awesome! Sometimes, a girl a girl needs a fancy night out, and sometimes a girl needs to have some fresh air and a large fun farm implement.

2 days later and I am still cleaning dirt out of my ears.
